The Shepherd's Dog

Hello! My name is Copper Dog and I help the shepherd tend to his sheep. Sometimes I think that Sam the Ram and his ewes need to be rounded up so that the shepherd can look after them.

They sometimes need to be dipped and once a year their fleeces need to be shorn off so they can be turned into woolly jumpers or woolly hats! So it is my job to run round them and gather them in. My favourite time of year is lambing time as this is when the hard work really starts - and I like nothing better than to be working every day!

At lambing time I have to go and check on the sheep every day and if one has a set of twins we have to bring them down to a special field by the farm so that they can be given extra food - to make sure that the ewes have enough milk to feed both of the lambs.
